Kitzsteinhorn Zell am See/Kaprun: Snowboarding on the Glacier
Snowboarding is something we both did very regular years ago, but didn’t do it for the last seven (Maggy) and five years (Anja). We talked about it a couple of times last winter, but somehow didn’t manage to try it again. With an invitation to the WOW Glacier Love Festival in Zell am See/Kaprun, one of the biggest winter music festivals in the Alps, opening the ski and snowboard season at Kitzsteinhorn (Zell am See/Kaprun), a chance showed up and we took it! 🙂
Although there was only little snow on the glacier, the slopes were well prepared and the weather was reasonable. We got there quite late and the trick contest at the funpark was already in full motion. Our major intention was to snowboard as much as possible, so unfortunately we didn’t really witness a lot – apart from some really good music while we were falling and rolling around in the snow. 😉
To be back in the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark and Großglockner region during winter was just great. Last time we were here was for the Grossglockner Ultratrail, where it was +20 degrees Celsius and all green. 🙂
Actually the snowboarding fortunately went better than we thought it would! We both felt a couple of times for sure, but after a short time, we managed to get down the slopes quite okay. As always, despite we never were snowboarding together before, we had almost the same speed and skill set and had a fun time on the glacier.
WOW Glacier Love Festival 2016
After a more or less exhausting day on the slopes, we were ready for our major weekend target, the WOW Glacier Love Festival. <3 The line-up was joyous and promising and we quickly found a new friend on the same mission: the crazy Katha from Bergseensucht. So a girl triplet was ready to rock the (front) stage! 🙂
The mainstage of the festival is located right in the center of Kaprun and on the parking lot in front of the famous Apre-Ski location “Baumbar”. It was surprisingly big and the lightshow was impressive. As well we LOVED the performance of Mike Candys – the music was exactly our type of remixes and we danced the night away..
Feeling home away from home <3
As it got really (!) late that night, we were double happy to stay at the ACTIVE by Leitner’s, festival hotel for the weekend on the one hand and stylish cosy sport getaway on the other.
Right after Check-In, we felt like home and ran into a jam sessionof some of the artists in the lobby. 🙂 From the ACTIVE, the festival area and all the nightlife spots in Kaprun are in walking distance and even the Kitzsteinhorn cablecar is in close proximity.
We had another amazing weekend with mountains, party, snow and a lot of well-beeing and hope we will be back here soon!
